My favorite was years ago when my bank was trying to get customers to deposit in ATMs, not just withdraw. They offered a series of graduated incentives -- something like a coupon for a $5 credit to your account with the first deposit, $3 with the second and $1 with the third. They had read the material about consumer habit formation, that's good. Trouble is, I had been making deposits in their ATMs for years!
